Dupp&Swat is an arts and creativity machine where expression, entrepreneurship and empowerment collides. Since opening in 2010, they’ve hosted more than 2,300 events, engages over 100,000 community members, and helped generate an estimated $2.5-5 million in economic impact for artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives in Charlotte.

FRESH2DEATH is a festival that Dupp&Swat ambitiously crafted to platform artists, vendors and musicians in Charlotte. Stay Cozy Studios was hired to deliver a brand identity package for digital and print that includes:

  • — Logo Refresh

  • — Visual Identity (Typography, Color Palette, Textures)

  • — Main Flyer

  • — Variation Flyers

  • — Video Flyers

  • — Concert lineup Flyer

Dupp&Swat requested that the visual identity reflect a nature theme for the Urban Outsiders concept. The design concept would be used to align with the art installations, decorated vendors market, set design for performance artists and DJs and the scene throughout. Promotions were featured on WBTV News and in local business and venues in Charlotte, such as as the historic Neighborhood Theatre.

Think outside the box

Where creativity meets clarity, and vision The largest task for this project was to generate excitement for an event that the public had no reference point for. The solve for this was to present striking designs and pair it with classic songs from local artists. This combination communicated that at bare minimum, this event was going to be an ambitious commitment to authenticity and community.

Dare to be the first one dancing

Because this event is a 12-hour immersive festival experience, the color of it all needed to capture the liveliness that the planning of the event contained. We needed the roots of earth tones, but also the imagination that the rainbow symbolizes.

Embrace the elements

A large part of operating with ambition is identifying the resources that we already have. The vendors, artists, attendees and volunteers are who made this event. Dupp&Swat’s civic engagement is long standing and the city of Charlotte follows them wherever they want to take it. Working with them was an invaluable experience that lessons in adaptability, timeliness, communication and heart.
